Draytek Vigor2800VG 4 Port 802.11G Wireless ADSL Modem/Router with VoIP (2 x FXS), VPN, Firewall, USB Print Server & USB 3G modem support (OBSOLETE)
Comments: Wireless version of the 2800V Greg purchased one from my online shop and wrote to tell me about his experience - "I recently purchased a Draytek 2800VG modem/router from OzTechnologies and wish to advise that this product has exceeded my expectations for a product straight out of the box. The Draytek connected first go to my ISP and WiFi works perfectly with my Dlink products. (PCI WiFi card (DWL-G520) and a cardbus WiFi NIC (DWL-G650)). I also sign up with Engin on a BYO Voiper plan and although Engin's web site is very slim on info for BYO Voipers, I got the service running and the voice quality is as good as if not better than my PSTN service. Furthermore the Draytek 2800VG needed no tweaking to make it work with the Engin service. (The default QoS settings work great.) Thanks to OzTechnologies for the advice given to me over the phone with respect to my purchase and whilst I admit the Draytek is expensive compared to other brands, I am not sorry I brought the Draytek because it has been a dream so far." Click here for 3G modem compatibility list (not all 3G modems are compatible) Note: The USB port on the back is labelled "Printer" on the 2800 series but that is where the 3G modem goes. It can still be used as a print server but not at the same time. The 2910, 2820 & 5510 series can support a USB hub so you can use it for both a print server and the 3G modem at the same time. However, this feature is not available on the 2800 series because it doesn't have the processing power to cope with it. Note: The 2800 series sometimes does not auto detect an ADSL1 line when set to multimode. This only occurs with some ISPs and is probably related to the type of DSLAM equipment they have installed. Usually manually setting the modulation to G.DMT in the modem's configuration menus is sufficient to get it going but in severe cases where this does not work then installing the ADSL1 only firmware will get it going. (This firmware is the one with the modem code:Y.1.28.187). User Ratings
