SMC SMC7004ABR
4 Port Router with Print Server (OBSOLETE)
Comments: These have had some ups and downs with BigPond Cable users in the past but have worked fine for everyone else. A couple of recent Firmware releases and/or different configurations have cured the woes for most people. See the SMC page for more. A fairly unique Router in that it includes a print server and a com port for dial-up support at an amazingly low price. My experience with using them on dial-up (some time ago) found that the dial-up failover was a little clumsy and generally required manual intervention via the setup screens before it would decide to dial. Same goes with using them exclusively for dialup. They don't really connect on demand or disconnect after an idle period as would be preferable, but this may have changed since the last time I played with one. SMC introduced an Australian support site last year but it's gone again now. However, there might be some firmware versions still being hosted there somewhere like this one, but goodness knows how to find them if they are still there.
