Comments: A basic 4 port wireless router with the ability to accept USB 3G modems*. (No ethernet WAN port with this product so it won't work with anything else other than a USB 3G dongle).
The included modem docking station is an interesting feature and will allow the 3G dongle to be moved around to take advantage of better signal strength without the router having to follow. Alternatively the dongle can be plugged straight into the back if you want to keep things a little tidier.
Also available is the CARP1000 Car Power Adapter to allow the router to work plugged into a 12v auxiliary power outlet in a car/bus/caravan etc for 3G wireless networking on the move!

Great for 3G, but I’ve just upgraded to the 4G Sierra 320U USB device and upgraded my firmware to 1.0.0.72 and this device does not work at all in this router.

After reading some of the comments I was a little doubtful as to a successful installation using the Netgear MBRN3000 modem & the Sierra 312U USB but after following the enclosed setup instruction that came with the modem it was one of the easiest installations I’ve ever done. I didn’t even upgrade the firmware for the modem. Great internet speed & wireless coverage.

I wish I had known about this site before I bought this! The aftersales service is horrible - even after being patient for 3 months or more. Where I live at the moment I can only currently get wireless broadband. I had been using an older Huawei dongle- but then Optus renewed my contract with a new, faster dongle- which wasn’t supported by Netgear at the time (early nov 2011)
I rung support which was no help at all, all they said was they will submit a request to have the new dongle added (Huawei E353) for the next update. So I have been patiently waiting for that to happen - only to find at the start of Feb there is a new update but no support still for the E353.
I sent another email to support to ask whether - if at all there would be an update done to support the E353 but I got no answer but to say again that they would submit a request for the update to be done, but to be honest I don’t believe its ever going to happen.
Very disappointed. Am buying a Draytek instead!

Setup wizard is useless. I purchased 2 of these. I checked compatibility with USB modems before purchasing. It worked with an older Vodafone USB mode, but not with Bigpond Elite USB 308 (Sierra) - firmware says it works but it doesn’t. I rang Netgear support who are absolutely useless. They told me they would send me a special firmware. It’s the same one I already was using. Very dissapointing. Hope to get a refund. Don’t trust the website saying they are compatible!!!

I used this process to use with the Telstra Ultimate modem (sierra 312U).
    - download latest firmware from netgear
    - enter http://www.routerlogin.com in your browser window
    - click upgrade
    - after upgrade
    - set APN = telstra.bigpond
    - PDP = IP
    - Access # = *99***1#

This product now supports the Sierra 312U. I bought it when it didn’t and was bitterly disappointed. I then splashers for another 3G router. Just by luck I checked the Netgear site the other day and checked the compatibility chart and found that the new firmware now supports the 312U!! The router works perfectly fine now.

I am sure this router works well when you don’t want use the Sierra 312U USB Modem with it, but since thats what I have I wouldn’t know. Rang tech support and all they did was send me the latest frimware that I had already installed...
    no help whatsoever.

Should have looked here first :)
